New Dates for Project Deadlines

My apologies again for missing Wednesdays class. As I mentioned, in six years of teaching I haven't missed a class before. But I was incredibly ill with a high fever and a flu. Still not feeling great, but at least a bit better.

I've realized too that we need to spend a lot more time on Photoshop techniques, as well as some of the basics of art and design, such as design principles, layout, colour, resolution, typography and creative strategy. Since I've not taught this course before, I may have to revise my schedule from time to time. What I realize is that we should spend much more time on Photoshop and Design Principles, which will help us in working on the other two sections - Dreamweaver and Premiere. It's apparent to me that this first section needs to be weighted more heavily in terms of time, because we are covering basic principles that are involved in the next two sections.

I'd like to recommend that we extend the deadline for Project 1 from September 18 to Friday, September 29, and Project 2 deadline to Wednesday, October 4.

This will give us time to learn more techniques and feel more comfortable with Photoshop, as well as design.

I apologize to those who have already worked very hard on their projects, but I think the vast majority in the class will benefit from the extra time.

So our schedule over the next couple of weeks will be:

Monday, September 18 - Colour Theory, Resolution and File Formats
Wednesday, September 20 - Design Principles and Photoshop Techniques
Friday, September 22 - Layout Approaches and Photoshop Techniques
Monday, September 25 - Creative Strategy, Printing & In-Class working on projects
Tuesday, September 27 - Photoshop Techniques & In-Class working on projects
Friday, September 29 - Project 1 due & Typography
Monday, October 2 - Working in-class on Project 2
Wednesday, October 4 - Project 2 due, Handing back Project 1 & in class discussion of Project 1

In addition, since the classroom is open all morning before our classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I will be in our classroom at 10am, for anyone that wants to come in and receive extra help. I will do this starting on Wednesday, September 20, up until Wednesday, September 27 to make up for the missed class and to provide extra help.

I hope you agree to this plan - I think it'll work much better. Please let me know what you think - we'll discuss it Monday, but until then, your Project 1 is NOT due, and I probably wouldn't begin work on it yet.
